Birmingham Translation Services translates police clearance certificates and criminal record documents into English and other languages. Whether you are preparing an overseas visa application or supplying an overseas record to an organisation in the UK, we can quote for the document and the form of translation your recipient requests.

Police records have different names and purposes across countries. Your document may be called a police clearance certificate, certificate of good conduct, criminal record extract or police certificate. UK documents may include an ACRO police certificate or a DBS certificate. These are different documents: translating one does not make it a substitute for another.
Start with the checklist from the embassy, employer or other organisation receiving your application. It should identify the document required, how recently it must have been issued and the language in which it must be supplied. For information about obtaining a UK police certificate, see the official Police.uk guidance.
If the receiving organisation asks for a certified translation, tell us when you request your quotation. For applications abroad, it may instead require a sworn translator recognised by the destination country. Our sworn translation service explains this distinction. We will review the instructions you provide before confirming the service.
An apostille authenticates a signature or seal; it does not translate the certificate. If your application requires legalisation, ask the recipient whether the original certificate, the translation or both need this step. If an apostille is already attached, include it with your scan so we can establish whether it must also be translated.
We need a readable copy of every page, including the reverse where there are stamps or notes. Names, aliases, dates of birth, reference numbers and record wording must remain consistent throughout the translation. Please supply the spelling of your name as it appears in your passport if the source uses a different alphabet.
You can send your document online from Birmingham or elsewhere in the West Midlands. A project manager will check its readability, confirm the translation format and provide a price and delivery estimate. If original documents or a posted copy are required for your particular application, we will discuss those arrangements before the work begins.
Yes. Send the certificate, target language and destination requirements. We will confirm whether the requested translation needs certification, a sworn translator or an additional legalisation step.
That depends on the recipient’s requirements. A DBS certificate and an ACRO police certificate serve different purposes. Check which document is requested before ordering a translation.
The quotation depends on the language pair, number of pages, readability and required certification. Send the complete document for an accurate price and delivery estimate.
Send your documents through our quotation form, or email hello@translationinbirmingham.co.uk. We will confirm the scope, cost and expected delivery before you decide to proceed.
